The Flood Impacts, Carbon Pricing, and Ecosystem Sustainability (FINCAPES) project is a gender-responsive initiative designed to support Indonesia’s ongoing effort in adapting and mitigating climate change impact, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring socio-economic sustainability. Conducted over 5.5 years by the University of Waterloo, FINCAPES aligns with Indonesia's goals for sustainable, climate-resilient development. The project aims to enhance Indonesia’s abilities in forecasting and mitigating flood risks exacerbated by climate change, applying Nature-based Solutions for the restoration of peatlands and mangroves, and strengthening climate policy frameworks, especially around carbon financing. FINCAPES Project is funded by the Government of Canada and part of the Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.
