FIRST PRINCIPLE

FIRST PRINCIPLE is a multi-disciplinary award-winning design practice constantly engaging with all project typologies - urban design interventions, commercial industrial institutional & residential architecture, interiors and retrofitting across the country, completing over 200 projects across the last 30 years. Founded and headed by Ashish Gupta and Archana Khanna, architect–urban designers having a diversified experience of working with their own teams, or as a specialized part of large multi-disciplinary teams of allied professionals, their projects are assessed on the first principle with an inclusive process, rooted in the context, exploring ways to engage with the end-user, shaping master plans, buildings, interiors and more. Urban Design Projects include Feasibility and Design Proposals encompassing large land parcels, urban riverfronts and urban restructuring through detailed studies of applicable development issues, policy planning and available tools for efficient implementation, Architectural Design includes Design and Implementation for large campuses, IT parks, institutional and industrial complexes complete with all related services infrastructure, and Interior Design includes Design and Implementation for corporate and multinationals for IT infrastructure, hospitality, advertising and media, as well as Data Centre Design and execution. Several notable design projects to their credit include feasibility studies and proposals for city level cycle tracks with architectural design for a demonstration stretch 2019, proposals for pedestrian bridges 2018, feasibility studies for redevelopment of the river front 2018, and analytical studies for roads for identification of redevelopment zones 2017, all for the city of Delhi; master planning and township developments at Visakhapatnam 2017, at Chhattisgarh 2014 and at Vidarbha 2011-13 and the award winning 40 acre campus for the State Institute of Disaster Management at Bhubaneswar 2016 -) among others.
