First Teacher is a program of Parenting Matters Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping parents in their most important job as their child's First Teacher. We provide parent education materials for parents of preschool children from pregnancy to pre-kindergarten. The mission of Parenting Matters Foundation is to help parents do an excellent job as their child's First Teacher. Parenting Matters Foundation (PMF) began in 1990 in the Sequim School District whose educators had the vision to see that what happens in the first years of a child's life determines his or her future success in school. PMF and the First Teacher program are models for the nation of low-cost programs designed to help parents become better parents. Our Board of Directors consists of individuals who are deeply committed to the concept of providing help to parents in their difficult job as their child's First Teacher.
