At Five Talents, we support women and communities in rural Africa to build businesses, grow savings and invest in their futures by harnessing the power of what they have, and using this to learn, earn, save and invest. Working through local partners, we help establish community-led savings groups that become hubs for learning, enterprise, and support. Group members receive training in literacy, numeracy and business skills—equipping them to launch and grow small businesses using their own resources. There are no handouts. Just practical tools, peer support and the space to succeed. Through saving, training, and access to small community loans, members build income, independence, and opportunity—not just for themselves, but for their families and communities. As businesses grow, so does local resilience. Our programmes are designed to reflect local context. In Tsavo, for example, we combine enterprise training with environmental education, helping reduce human-wildlife conflict and protect livelihoods near the National Park. In other areas, our work may focus on youth engagement, adult literacy, peace building or women’s leadership—based on what each community needs. This is small-scale microfinance with a difference, we do not provide loans, but the means to create sustainable savings. It works, and is led by local people, not outsiders. It’s lean, flexible and proven to last. Our partner programmes currently operate in Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia and Madagascar. Partner with us to invest in these entrepreneurs.
