FLACSO Secretaría General

The Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) is an international organization composed of 18 Member States, currently engaged in academic activities across 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Established in 1957, FLACSO has grown into an autonomous international institution dedicated to advancing the promotion, education, research, and collaboration in the Social Sciences throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Originally based solely in Chile (1957–1974), FLACSO began expanding geographically in 1974. Today, it operates through seven Academic Headquarters, six Programs, and two Projects. FLACSO has significantly contributed to the development of Social Sciences in the region, training around 10,000 specialists, professors, and academics throughout its history. Since its inception, FLACSO has served as an autonomous regional hub for producing new knowledge, fostering dialogue and cooperation between academia and public policy, and contributing to the integration and development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
