I have spent a lot of time underway and have found that many sailors don’t even sleep in their racks because making a tight rack, in a tight space, when you’re tight on time, is not easy. I called my Grandma with the dimensions of my mattress and she sent me a sheet for my rack. The sailors I worked with would ask if my Grandma could make them one. Of course Grandma can’t make one for everyone, but the opportunity to make the lives easier for my shipmates was right in front of me.
