About Flex2power

Flex2power is a Norwegian-developed concept for energy production from renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and wave power on a floating platform in marine areas. Flex2power is a unique patented concept with remarkably low construction and service costs. The concept is very competitive both technically and economically. Installations are built close to the manufacturing plant on land and have low costs for production, towing, installation, operation and maintenance. Flex2power park level configuration P1 will only occupy 16% of the surface area compared to other offshore concepts measured in MW/m2. Installations have a lifetime of 25 years, all planned maintenance can be carried out while the plant is in operation. Based on the customer's energy needs, there are several modules to choose from, with production capacity from 11.2MW to 260 MW and possibility to expand if the energy needs change. The concept was developed by Einar T. Sundal, who has 35+ years of experience in the energy industry. The concept has received financial support from Valide, Vri Rogaland, Innovation Norway and Ulla-Førrefondet. The main share of delivery is going to be from the Norwegian supplier industry. Pilot installation In 2024, a pilot installation will be built to supply Egerøy (an island outside Egersund) with energy, as part of the ROBINSON project. A license has been applied for the installation of the S1 plant with the capacity to produce 60 GWh annually for 25 years which is equivalent to the power needs of 3700 houses. Rosenberg IKM and Dalane Energi are investors in the pilot installation, and two larger energy companies (a Norwegian and a foreign) have signed a MOU agreement. In 2023, more investors will be sought for the project. Testing Successful ocean basin test was carried out in June 2021 by Force Technology with DNV as advisor and third party verification partner. The test confirmed that the concept is very competitive in terms of cost and area efficiency.
