Exploratory Intelligence Flink Labs is an applied research studio exploring the frontiers of complexity, emergence, and artificial intelligence. Founded in 2009 by Ben Hosken, we approach our research with curiosity and playful exploration, focusing on three interconnected themes: Latent Life Investigating how intelligent and adaptive behaviours naturally emerge from simple, decentralised interactions inspired by nature. Emergent Agency Understanding how autonomous entities spontaneously develop intention, cooperation, and sophisticated communication within shared environments. Situated Intelligence Embedding intelligence directly into physical & resource-limited environments, prioritising robustness, and real-world context-awareness. Our commercial engagements translate these research insights into meaningful, practical outcomes across diverse sectors—from healthcare and education to consumer retail and technology.
