FLUWS aims to create a more flexible, reliable, and eco-friendly thermal energy storage (TES) system for next-generation solar power plants. This system will work at higher temperatures and be combined with photovoltaic (PV) technology to improve cost-efficiency.
FLUWS will test a new TES concept that uses recycled materials from the ceramic industry and air as a heat transfer fluid, ensuring high efficiency with low environmental impact.
The project will develop new TES materials and systems, including electric heaters powered by renewable energy, making CSP systems more flexible and easier to integrate with other technologies. This will help CSP plants provide more services to the grid and expand their industrial applications.
