Folkalist Records is a new record label celebrating music from the Global South, has announced its formation. Folkalist's artists are singers, storytellers and culture-makers who put folkloric traditions in conversation with modernity. Folkalist embraces hybridity, in-between spaces and the virtuosity of the human voice. The global music label was founded by Kavita Shah, an award-winning vocalist, composer, polyglot, researcher, and educator.
