Folkhälsan is a social and health care organization, founded to benefit the general public in 1921. We have approximately 1,500 employees and almost 19,000 members in our local affiliate associations around the country. Folkhälsan’s aim is a society that prioritizes health and quality of life.

The Folkhälsan Foundation
Samfundet Folkhälsan i svenska Finland rf is responsible for coordinating Folkhälsan’s entire organization. Samfundet Folkhälsan has overall responsibility for ensuring that the organization functions in accordance with statutes, sound policies, regulations and the law.
Folkhälsan Research Center
Folkhälsan Research Center, responsible for Folkhälsan’s research activities, is an internationally renowned unit with focus on biomedical and health research within programs on genetics, preventive medicine and public health. The Center has a staff of approximately 200 people.
Folkhälsan Welfare
Folkhälsan Välfärd Ab is a company wholly owned by Samfundet Folkhälsan. The company manages service production on behalf of Folkhälsan and provides services in the Swedish speaking areas of Finland.
Folkhälsan’s Federation
Folkhälsan’s Federation combines the roles of a health-promoting voluntary organization and an expert institution. The Federation consists of four regional associations, which in turn consist of 98 independent local associations with a total of around 19,000 members. The Federation’s main areas of knowledge are voluntary activities, health-promoting activities, lifestyle issues, family work and social relations.
