Reconciling a disconnect between the government, as a policy maker, and businesses, as catalysts for a country’s competitiveness, is the biggest challenge that Indonesia faces in transforming into a highly competitive country at the global level. Government policies are not always supportive to the business sector. To overcome such challenge, there is a need to bridge the government and business spheres for creating correct policies. • How can correct policies support the leading sectors of Indonesia, such as palm oil, telecommunication, and shrimp, to become global giants? • How can correct policies create legal certainty and economic efficiency to optimally improve business sectors in Indonesia? • How can correct policies create coordination between the central and local government, as well as the ministries, to prevent policy conflicts from harming the business sphere? • How can correct policies be well implemented? Forbil Institute, which was initiated by some academics from Universitas Gadjah Mada and then bolstered by various actors, aims to provide policy advocacy to create correct policies, as aforementioned.
