WHO WE ARE Forsight is a for-purpose organisation that provides supported accommodation for people with sensory impairments across Greater Western Sydney and Wollongong. OUR HISTORY Our story begins at the North Rocks Central School for Blind and Deafblind Children. In 1978, we were established by a group of parents and teachers who wanted to ensure that their children had a pathway to independent living as young adults and beyond. We were the world’s first public-education and parent-run organisation with the aim of providing supported accommodation for people who are blind or deafblind. Former students from the school were the first co-residents of our very first home, which opened in Ashfield in 1983 as Australia’s first family group home.
