About Fortify Project
FORTIFY – Firearms Trafficking Cooperation Initiative: Strengthening Efforts Cofunded by the European Union (ISF-2024-TF2-AG-PROTECT) The FORTIFY project is a 36-month initiative starting on February 1, 2025, aimed at addressing the critical challenge of firearms trafficking and its misuse. Led by a consortium of key partners including: the Ministerio del Interior (Spain), Bundeskriminalamt - BKA (Germany), Conflict Armament Research - CAR (Belgium), Ministério da Administração Interna (Portugal), and Evoluxer (Spain), the project seeks to reinforce international efforts to combat organized crime and enhance security across Europe and beyond. FORTIFY focuses on strengthening cooperation and coordination among European and international law enforcement agencies while complementing and enhancing the work of EMPACT FIREARMS, the EU’s flagship initiative against firearms trafficking. The project aims to provide a comprehensive and coordinated response to the illicit flow of firearms by supporting operational actions involving EU Member States, Third Countries, institutions, and security networks. Through intelligence-sharing, joint operations, and strategic initiatives, FORTIFY contributes to a more secure Europe by addressing the growing threat of illicit arms circulation.
