ForTuna

ForTuna, the Academic Tuna of Nova School of Business and Economics, was founded on February 15th, 1993, by six university students, with the aim of promoting the academic spirit, contributing to the musical and personal development of its members and honoring its university's name. Today we have around 60 members, with different hierarchical positions and personalities. ForTuna is, above all, a group of friends that strives to achieve all the above-mentioned goals together. ForTuna’s repertoire, product of its evolution throughout more than twenty-five years of existence, is composed by originals such as “Ala P’rá Rusga” and “Alma Perdida”. It also includes covers, arranged and adapted by its members like “Eu Sei”, by Sara Tavares, or “Pregão”, by Madredeus. ForTuna has performed its vast in festivals and meetings all over the country, including Coimbra, Santarém, Portalegre, Faro, Leiria and the Azores. We have organized our yearly festival, FORTUNA – “Festival de Tunas Mistas da Nova SBE”, since March 1997. Throughout its 19 editions, various tunas of great reputation have been invited. This event, of an already great reputation in both the academic tunas world and outside of it, emerges as one of the main brand images of ForTuna, by the great musical quality of the show and it's ambiance. Besides this event, ForTuna also performs at the start of the school year, welcoming the new Nova SBE students and in the school's Open Days. As sung in our songs, the members of ForTuna, dressed as they should, grab their guitars and “all the strength that fits in a good student”. This is their key asset as a team: the alliance and effort of making a cause everyone believes in worth it as well as carrying the good name of their university, always with joy, music and academic tradition, celebrating twenty-five years of tuna history: “We are ForTuna, and we don’t stop” is our motto.
