Forward Calgary

Forward Calgary is an advocacy group and nonprofit that is focused on the advancement of young people’s interests. Forward Calgary is geared towards young people in the city (under 35), but believes that people of all ages are helpful in the processes associated with political advocacy and policy initiatives. A few of Forward Calgary’s initiatives can be found below. Voting Age: We are advocating for the municipal voting age to be lowered to 16 to encourage civic engagement and lifelong political participation. City of Calgary Youth Council: With this initiative, our goal is to promote youth engagement in the city. We are advocating for the establishment of a City of Calgary Youth Council in the same vein as Edmonton’s, which acts as an advisory committee of the city. Lobby Workshops: Teaching young people how to engage in lobbying and advocacy through workshops allows for interests to be vocalized in an effective manner.
