Millions of farmers working their land have fed the increasing population and fueled the progressing economy of Bangladesh by producing crops for ages. It has long been the hard work and resilience of farmers, aided by progresses in seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, and processes, which strive to match the increasing population load. Experts have noticed that there is a need for rebuilding the very information system that has enhanced the output of agriculture sector. Hence, came the need to redesign and re-establish information flow to farmers in a relevant, timely and effective way using technology. This information system has the potential to enable farmers to produce better crops and increase their incomes and raise their standard of living. Now the Geo-data for Agriculture and Water Facility (G4AW) expects to address this gap. ACI, with fund from NSO, has implemented a system called ‘Intelligent Decision Support System (IDSS)' for farmers. The services of IDSS is rendered under the name ‘Fosholi’ . What It Offers Fosholi is intended to leverage geo-data to gather, target and propagate relevant information to farmers when they need it, in a viable way. With the vision to positively affect the lives of millions of smallholder farmers, new technology is leveraged in the advancement of the grassroots of agriculture in Bangladesh.
