The “Responsible Gaming” Foundation was established in 2015 with the mission of proactively addressing and preventing unreasonable gaming behavior, excessive use of digital devices, and the development of online gaming addiction. Its founders are Bulgarian investors, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists – Rosie McKee and Milo Borisov, who are siblings.
Throughout human history, gaming has been an integral part of our development. Johan Huizinga, in his theory of “Homo Ludens,” emphasizes that gaming as a phenomenon is not merely an entertaining activity but a fundamental aspect of human civilization. From ancient strategic games to contemporary digital ones, it has encouraged intellectual growth, problem-solving skills, and creativity.
Our foundation recognizes the rich history of gaming while simultaneously witnessing the powerful positive impact of digital technologies and artificial intelligence as tools for addressing humanity’s challenges. In this context, we acknowledge the real risks of developing addiction to digital devices and games in a world where many foresee the creation of a digital twin, a mixed and enriched reality of every existing material infrastructure in the foreseeable future.
