Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation

The Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation was established in 2016 to formalize what had been a decade or more of community efforts to improve Four Mile Run Park. Our mission is to promote nature, culture, and community at lower Four Mile Run through restoration, advocacy, recreation, and education. We serve a diverse community of residents who live, work, study, or play within two miles of the tidal portion of Four Mile Run and its associated parklands in Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia. We are working to ensure the natural amenities of this urban ecosystem are protected and nurtured, and to amplify the mutually-reinforcing cycle of community stewardship of natural resources and human health, well-being, and enjoyment in the city. We envision lower Four Mile Run as a cherished community resource and a model for natural lands stewardship in an urban setting.
