Although vapes were first introduced as a proposed cessation solution for cigarette users, vaping has instead gained major popularity among younger generations. Today, a whopping 1 in 5 young adults in the US are vaping, and these counts only continue to rise. However, the problem lies not only in the growing popularity of e-cigarettes, but also the reality that vape users just cannot stop. While there are many options to aid those who want to stop using nicotine-based products, they fail to address the behavioral root of the problem and lack relevance to younger generations. 70% of vape users report a desire to quit, but existing market solutions yield stagnantly low quit success rates of 5%. We provide a mobile app that leverages psychological principles, education, and community to help vape users stop vaping. Our program draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a framework that's rooted in understanding how people’s thoughts, feelings and behavior are connected to yield lasting behavioral change. Based on user’s unique consumption habits, individual triggers, and reported experiences, the program will use natural language processing to deliver highly individualized guided exercises, readings, and other content. Our mobile self-help platform will help users to identify, challenge, and ultimately replace the flawed logic that keeps them tied to their vape and kick the habit for good.
