Our mission at Free to Fly is to give expectant mothers who are experiencing domestic abuse during pregnancy a choice about what help and support they receive, and to provide practical, emotional and long-term support so that they can raise their children safe from the trauma of abuse and transform their own lives, as well as break cycles of abuse for their children, their children’s children, and for many more generations to come.
We at Free to Fly believe in championing women as the experts in knowing what they need at any given moment to look after themselves, yet many do not have the resources upon leaving an abusive relationship that they need to feel that they can thrive. Pregnancy is hard enough without being alone, without a home, without any means of supporting yourself. And that’s why we aim to be able to support women who have left home with nothing, and help them to rebuild their lives and prepare to become mothers. It can be a lonely, scary and isolating position to be in, and financially very challenging. So we aim to provide very specific care to women who are going through one of the most vulnerable and important times of their lives – pregnancy and early motherhood.
