South Africa's e-commerce and logistics industry is growing rapidly and with it freight and cargo theft. The escalating freight theft crisis demands a fresh solution beyond traditional measures. Surveillance cameras and security canopies are unfortunately just not enough to stop these criminals, it is clear that an innovative security solution is needed. It's crucial to rethink strategies and actively prevent theft to ensure the safety of cargo transport systems. In this challenge our team saw an opportunity to redefine security in the courier industry. We identified a solution that would not only address the external threats posed by criminal attacks, but also tackle the problem of internal theft. The answer lies in our revolutionary 360-degree enclosure access control system. Our system utilises a sophisticated combination of PINs and/or RFID card authentication, internally mounted locking mechanisms and structurally superior design ensuring that only authorised drivers gain access to the precious cargo. What sets our solution apart is its fail-secure nature. Recognising that criminals frequently vandalise traditional security measures, we engineered a system that remains resolute. Even if tampered with, our access control system remains locked, denying unauthorised access.
