The Friary is a registered charity which seeks to empower homeless and disadvantaged people in Rushcliffe & Nottingham to rebuild their lives. Since 1988, the Friary has been delivering life changing advice, health and support services to many thousands of local people and we remain an integral part of the support system for homeless people in the Nottingham area.
Those who are not actively homeless will be in some form of accommodation but will be vulnerably housed and therefore at risk of homelessness. For those individuals our focus is on providing supportive early interventions which prevent homelessness from occurring. Service users support needs are often complex and relate to housing, substance misuse, poor mental health, long term unemployment, social isolation and debt; they are normally in poor physical condition, have few friends and family and have entrenched low self-esteem and confidence issues. Our fundamental aim is to give people the time and space in their lives that allows them to make healthy and informed decisions about their future.
