FRICTION is an art-and curatorial collective. The group sees itself as a connective between
the artists, their work and the viewer, and is interested in different forms of
encounters and forms of being a host, and sees this as their actual work or aim.
Between 2012 and 2015 they ran the independent artist-run space Perla-Mode, where they, in collaboration with other groups and artists, curated exhibitions, multidisciplinary performances and art festivals.
In 2015 FRICTION was invited for a one-year residency at the Gessnerallee Zurich, one of the prime venues for contemporary dance and theatre, where they curated three performative exhibitions:
‘Come North, Baby, Track 1-3’ (2015), ‘Thank You For Your Time and You Can Thank Me for Mine’ (2015), and ‘I Feel Your Presence’ (2016). Along with a weekly series ‘Today is a __ day’, where they spontaneously invited artists to contribute to these programs.
FRICTION is the author of the publication ‘Wir wollen dich kennenlernen. Dreissig KünstlerInnen, Dreissig Begegnungen’ (2016). The performance of the book took place at Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich in 2016.
