Friendship Beyond Borders (FBB) is a nationally recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting refugee children in the Za'atari United Nations Camp. The nonprofit encompasses several initiatives, mainly focusing on educational platforming and programs that push greater holistic health and well-being for refugees. Friendship Beyond Borders is committed to making lasting, positive outcomes in refugee children's lives by providing opportunities for them to nurture their potential. This organization consists of two different programs: the "English Education", and "Health & Wellbeing" programs.
The "English Education" program provides an English learning platform for refugee children in Jordan. Friendship Beyond Borders has funded the construction and maintenance of an educational facility and supplied such with electronic resources to maximize the learning experience while creating a personalized academic curriculum for classes—the English Education curriculum centers around familiarizing English elements through Arabic concepts. Friendship Beyond Borders has developed an educational system in which native-speaking teachers instruct through the curriculum to refugee children online with translating aid teachers to guide them through the learning experience.
The Health and Well-being Program was created in response to the diabetes endemic occurring in the Middle East and is now focused on establishing healthy lifestyles for refugee children. The program is structured around promoting health literacy on basic hygiene practices, and healthy dietary options, as well as informing on disease prevention, health risks, and healthier lifestyle habits. Friendship Beyond Borders monitors participant health with physical trackers such as blood sugar and focuses one-on-one with particularly extreme cases. As a part of holistic health in exercise, Friendship Beyond Borders also collaborates with Team Refugee Korea for a thriving Martial Arts program with plans for expansion.
