Friends of the Dart: Advocates for a Healthier River Dart 🌊 Welcome to Friends of the Dart – where passion meets purpose in safeguarding the beauty of the River Dart in Devon, UK! 🌱 As a grassroots community group, our mission is clear: Improving water quality and protecting the Dart through effective collaboration and partnerships with those who impact the river's health. 🌊 We've been diligently testing the water quality, and starting from 2024, our testing program extends from the river's source to the sea. Our Focus: Engaging positive action for the benefit of both river health and community well-being. Inspiring Change: Our testing isn't just about numbers – it's a catalyst for change. By achieving Bathing Water Designation for 4 spots on the river ( submitted in Sept 2023) we aim to reduce sewage spills to 1-2 per year per combined sewage overflow at designated sites. This pushes for the necessary upgrades to wastewater treatment plants, resulting in significantly less sewage, toxic chemicals, and pharmaceutical substances in our river.
