Now that the generic courier company jargon is out the way we will tell you our story. Frigate Express was founded by accident. Not in the literal sense (Honest. We did not have an accident and then decide to become couriers, although that would have been a good read). The company was formed by accident in the sense that the owner never ever thought he would enter logistics. The owner likes driving. Twice a week he would go for a long 3-4 hour drive after his day job. It helped to clear his mind of all the fog in his daily life. It gave him time to think, reflect, learn, and plan. Driving for hours on end was his thing. He also had a friend on Facebook. This friend was a courier. He used to post (a lot!) about the places he would visit and what he saw along the way. This got the founder of the company thinking: “This guy is earning a living by doing what he likes “Why am I doing a job that I hate!” One day he saw an advert by a large national delivery company. He responded to it and to his surprise was invited for an interview. Sadly he was not impressed. He refused to work with such people. We cannot divulge which firm it was, however the words ‘slavery’ and ‘financial exploitation’ come to mind. He was disappointed to say the least. Moreover the interviewer arrived 15 minutes late to the interview and did not apologise. This was inexcusable and totally unprofessional. A plan was made, Frigate Express was born.
