FROMGREEN INITIATIVE is a community-driven project dedicated to combating climate change, enhancing food security, and promoting economic empowerment in Rwanda. Founded by climate advocate Immaculee Namahirwe, the initiative focuses on addressing malnutrition and poverty by donating avocado trees to families in the rural areas of Musanze District. These trees serve as a sustainable source of food and income, contributing to long-term community resilience. At the heart of our mission is the belief that small-scale, sustainable agricultural practices can lead to big impacts. By planting avocado trees, we not only provide a reliable source of nutrition but also foster economic opportunities through the sale of surplus avocados in local markets. FROMGREEN INITIATIVE also prioritizes climate action by promoting reforestation and agroforestry practices that reduce carbon emissions and contribute to environmental sustainability. We are committed to educating and empowering youth, training them in tree nursery management, with a vision to plant two million trees of various species by 2027. Our core objectives include: Climate Action: Reducing carbon footprints through reforestation and promoting sustainable land use practices. Food Security: Fighting malnutrition by providing a nutritious and sustainable food source for families. Economic Empowerment: Generating income opportunities for rural communities through avocado farming. Youth Engagement: Training and educating youth on tree planting and agroforestry to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards. Together, we are growing a greener, more resilient future for Rwanda.
