The Free Syrian lawyers Association (FSLA) is a Syrian non-governmental that was officially announced in 2012 and registered in Turkey thereafter. FSLA primarily aims to enhance human rights values and strengthen rule of law. FSLA strives to enable and build the capacity of alternative institutions that emerged from the Syrian uprising, providing them with the necessary legal and administrative expertise. Through its extensive network, FSLA operates in nine province within Syria. This network includes over 150 lawyers and legal employees working on several projects such as capacity building, supporting local, councils, and solving disputes through alternative mechanism (Arbitration Centers). FSLA also provides citizens with pro bono service through its legal clinics that cooperate with academic institutions and international organizations.
