Fundación Comuna Project, Centro de Acompañamiento Psicosocial y Laboratorio de Innovación Social.

Founded in 2016, we are a non-profit foundation with headquarters in the Las Independencias neighborhood, in node 2 of Comuna 13 of the District of Medellín. Mobilized by the search for innovative ideas for community development, the idea of creating a social innovation laboratory was born. Through this strategy, our aim is to develop projects that maximize the positive impact on the territory, improving living conditions for its inhabitants and creating positive scenarios for future generations. After implementing the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) pilot project in 2021, we understood that the greatest community asset to promote and enhance is individual, family and collective mental health. We developed tailored strategies and programs that consolidate community participation throughout the process of building social capital in the different neighborhoods of node 2 of Comuna 13. Likewise, we have replicated and scaled our ecosystem in different comunas in Medellín and the incubation process of the Comuna Project Foundation has been nationally and internationally socialized as a Social Innovation Laboratory and Psychosocial Support Center. Understanding the significance of adaptive change management, it has become a safe environment for community engagement in every territory where we collaborate with community-based social organizations.
