For over three decades, ICAR Foundation has stood at the forefront of providing essential support to individuals affected by torture, ill-treatment and grave violations of human rights.
The Rehabilitation Centre provides free of charge medical, legal, psychological and social support to Romanian former political prisoners and vulnerable asylum seekers and refugees.
ICAR Foundation's objectives are:
- Recognition and Support for Survivors: Honor and provide comprehensive rehabilitation services to survivors of severe human rights abuses, such as torture, inhumane treatment and political, ethnic or religious persecution.
- Advocacy for Rights and Redress: Advocate for the medical, psychological and legal rights of survivors and their families, including access to moral and social redress and financial compensation.
- Enhancing Life Standards: Improve the living standards of primary and secondary survivors, including former political prisoners, asylum seekers and refugees, by offering extensive rehabilitation services (medical, psychosocial and legal).
- Prevention and Awareness: Support initiatives aimed at preventing severe human rights violations and raising awareness about their impacts.
