Furman Middle School proudly collaborates with Engaging Creative Minds for a dynamic STEAM camp, demonstrating our commitment to innovative education. We offer a wealth of experiences for students in athletics, e-sports, CTE, band, chorus, theatre, newspaper, Project BiG, yearbook, and more. Our school is home to remarkable educators and students. We proudly recognize the Mrs. Shirley Tomlin Award winner and a finalist for the 2024-2025 Sumter School District Teacher of the Year. We celebrate our Sumter Item's Best Teacher of 2024 and the 2023-2024 Sumter School District Middle School Induction Teacher of the Year. Our School Resource Officer is the 2024 Sumter County Sheriff's Outstanding Community Policing Award winner. Our students excel in academics and competitions. They have won the My Energy Kit National Competition, the 2023 Sumter Love Where You Live Poster Contest, and the Mayor's Christmas Card Contest. We are also home to a South Carolina FBLA Gold Star Chapter, designated as the 2nd largest middle school chapter in the state. Our students have placed in the Sumter County Fair Art Contest and are repeat winners of the county-wide Exact Path Trophy Challenge, as well as winners of the Legends of Learning initiative. In athletics, we boast the Sumter School District Middle School Conference Coach of the Year and the 2023-2024 Sumter Middle Schools Conference Girls Track Champions. Our students and staff have generously donated over $5000 to Relay for Life, reflecting our strong sense of community and giving spirit.
