Fusion studio is a student design agency and an extension of the Graphic Design program at Lehigh University. Students who are majors or minors in Graphic Design have the opportunity to experience “real life” assignments by solving the design problems of the Lehigh Community. Learning on-the-job, students experience the challenges and rewards of working with clients.
Formed in 2008, students were looking for a way to apply their skills to the graphics and visuals across campus, as well as learn more about the business of design. They decided on the name Fusion Studio. A name that represented the mission of the design group, which is “uniting Lehigh University through design.”
When the group receives an assignment, a project manager is assigned. Depending on the size of the assignment, additional designers may be assigned to assist. This gives the project manager the experience of tracking the project from beginning to end, working with clients, getting estimates, contacting outside vendors, meeting deadlines and billing. The designers have the opportunity to produce work that they can use in their portfolios.
