Future Generation - Basketball academy for personal development of young people

Future Generation believes that sport contributes significantly to the development of every child. Our basketball academies provide physical, emotional, social and moral learning for young people. With a focus on self-discipline, achievement, goal setting and teamwork – the result is greater self-confidence, improved behaviour and personal development. In addition to being technically skilled, our coaches nurture each student throughout with mentoring and by being a role model. Our philosophy is to equip each student athlete, who in some cases are from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a structured platform that provides guidance, mentoring, inspires hard work and self-belief. Our clients are typically school leadership and managers, headteachers, deputy headteachers, assistant headteachers and the school business manager/bursar. Our programs support children from grass roots nursery right through to 6th Form. We also help individuals who are looking for tailored basketball training programs Spotlighting academic success – we operate with an approach of student first, athlete second. Coaches support student athletes to successfully blend and balance the roles of being a full-time student and a full-time athlete. There are opportunities to represent at sports competitions such as national club basketball governed by Basketball England. A track record of success is noted by a recent Ofsted School report for a school we work with; a grading of “Good” under the “Personal development, behaviour and welfare” section. In this report, our program was recognised as a “well-planned program that supports pupils in their personal development and in preparing them for life in modern Britain” and was ‘beneficial for pupils who find it difficult to manage their behaviour’. Future Generation also provides job opportunities for coaches and mentors.
