About Future Pathways Development Initiative
Future Pathways Development Initiative (FPDI) is an independent, pan-African organization established in 2022 to inspire reforms and strengthen governance outcomes across Africa through impactful, citizen-centred policy. FPDI is set to operate across all 54 African countries, transcending political ideologies, economic interests, and religious affiliations to shape a more inclusive, accountable, and prosperous continent. Why We Exist Africa is at a turning point. Despite abundant resources and a growing youth population, the continent continues to grapple with weak governance systems, ineffective policy implementation, and low citizen engagement. FPDI was founded to address these systemic issues by advancing governance reforms and equipping institutions and citizens with the tools to co-create policy solutions that work. Our Vision To strengthen good governance through our work on developing and implementing effective, citizen-driven policies. Our Mission To inspire and strengthen citizen action and engagement in Africa. Our Goal To catalyze a generation of African youth leaders and citizen actors who can influence, design, and implement inclusive, forward-thinking public policies across the continent. Our Target Audience Our primary constituency is youth, defined as individuals between the ages of 15 and 35 years who are passionate about governance, public leadership, and policy reform. What We Do We support good governance through the following strategic focus areas: 1. Leadership Development: We build the capacity of emerging and existing leaders in the public, civic, and private sectors to lead with integrity and vision. 2. Policy Innovation: We develop and advocate for transformative, evidence-based policies tailored to African realities.
