The Future Security Initiative is a group of students based in Georgetown DC, interested in positively shaping the development of transformational technologies. We seek to mitigate global catastrophic risks such as nuclear war, pandemics, great power war, as well as the malicious use of or accidental risks from advanced artificial intelligence. We seek to overcome the security challenges posed by the many changes and dramatic shocks to the international system we believe are coming in the 21st century, and ensure a flourishing international community for foreseeable future.
Materially, we offer space to discuss and meet like minded peers, career coaching and networking, and funded research opportunities and mentorship. We were founded in Summer 2022 by Everett Smith, a student at Georgetown University and junior AI Governance researcher.
