Aquaponie je nový technologický systém, který spojuje chov ryb s pěstováním zeleniny. Ryby poskytují hnojivo rostlinám a rostliny čistí vodu rybám. Nepoužívají se žádná umělá hnojiva ani jiná agrochemie a spotřeba vody je pouhých 10% oproti jiným způsobům pěstování.
Produkce je zcela nezávislá na počasí, podnebí nebo klimatu a produkce je celoroční. Produkty jsou velmi zdravé, nutričně hodnotné a výnosy jsou nesrovnatelné s konvenčním zemědělstvím.
