Founded in 2008 by Mechanical Engineering students, the Fórmula SAE UFMG project was born with the goal of developing a high-performance Formula-type prototype to compete in the FSAE Brazil Combustion.
Currently, the team consists of students from various university courses, under the guidance of Professor Ariel Rodriguez Arias, coordinator of the LRSS - Robotics, Welding, and Simulation Laboratory at the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
Our mission is to manage this complex project, design, manufacture, and test a high-performance car, providing our members with the necessary conditions for the practical application of the knowledge acquired during their studies. We represent UFMG and the state of Minas Gerais in the Fórmula SAE competitions, always striving for excellence and innovation.
In the 2017 season, we won 4th place in the Acceleration and Autocross races. In the 2018 season, we won 1st place in the Presentation competition. For the 2019 competition, the team is developing projects to improve the many subsystems that integrate the car in order to reach the podium and thus the classification for international competitions.
