Gaastra is a Dutch brand originated in Sneek since 1897. It was found by Douwe Gaastra, a young and ambitious Dutch sail-maker, at the age of 22. He started his sail-making business and embroidered the watergate, also known as the landmark of Sneek, on all his works. His persistence of quality and craftsmanship pushed Gaastra became a household name in the global world of sailing. Once captured by the sailing spirit, your heart belongs to the sea forever. Douwe Gaastra lost his heart to the sea dedicating himself to making the finest sailing gear. He knew what dealing with the sea is all about, RESPECT.
