Who are we? We’re a social media agency. We’re based in Manchester. We are gabba. We create conversations. Ok, so that last bit may seem like the kind of stuff you’ve probably heard from most other agencies – and perhaps especially a social media one – but we like to think we are a little bit different. We work with some of the largest brands in the world drawing on experience with SSL International, Philips, The OU, Shop Direct Group and major public institutions like Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire Police Forces, Microsoft and the NHS helping them understand the social media “space” and developing strategies which allow them to create conversations with their customers. Why? Well, for us, social media isn’t about technology, the latest cool thing, the latest technology or site. “It's about about people.” It’s about people talking, sharing, collaborating, connecting & doing online, what they do offline. We’ve seen enough change in the last 5 years to know that technology changes and people don’t. As social commentator, Clay Shirky says: “A revolution doesn’t happen when a society adopts new tools. It happens when society adopts new behaviours…” Society IS adopting new behaviours. People ARE using the internet in different ways and social technologies are allowing them to carry out new ways of communicating. The hard part is making sense of it all, understanding how you can get your brand involved in a way that adds value to both you and your customer – and quite simply, how your business can embrace these changes. So what? We know social media can be a bit confusing, a minefield at worst. We know there are cowboys out there and we know that this can be a frightening step. Don’t worry. We understand. Honestly, we do. We’ve been doing this for long enough to know that social media might not be the answer to all your prayers, but we can certainly help you understand what it can do for you.
