GAIA is a superorganism and living system that includes all life on Earth. The spheres of influence are the hydropsphere (fresh and salt water), lithosphere (soils), biosphere (life - flora and fauna), atmosphere and anthroposphere (human influence) but all of these are integrated into one system that cannot be divided into components - everything is interconnected.
Looking at the influence of 7Bn + humans on the other systems - we use natural resources, impact natural ecosystems, emit billions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions etc and we do not have the appropriate economic or social structures in place to hold us accountable.
