The Games for Culture Cluster (GCC) aims to bring together EU-funded projects that promote culture through games.
The overall GCC goal is to create and promote, games that benefit society.
Emphasis is given on:
- the ethical aspects of the game creation and gameplay,
- the co-design practices to develop games that are beneficial for society,
- innovative technological solutions to improve games in terms of their efficiency for education, skillsets, responsible business models, social cohesion, creativity etc.
Expected impacts:
- sustainable innovation in CH, arts and cultural and creative sectors
- enhance European sense of belonging through continuous engagement with society, citizens and economic sectors
- better protection, restoration and promotion of CH
- contribute to overcome existing challenges (e.g. climate change, pollution, natural or man-made disasters, looting and illicit trafficking, lack of finance or insufficient valorization)
- create crisis-resilient societies and economies
Explores the creation of Games for Cultural Heritage (CH), arts and cultural and creative sectors. Indicatively:
- Tangible CH (man-made works with cultural importance for society e.g. monuments, archives, artifacts).
- Intangible CH or living heritage e.g. oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, festive events, traditional crafts.
- Arts, Film, Music, dance, dress etc.
- Natural heritage landscapes, biodiversity
- Environmental challenges e.g. climate change
- Cultural values e.g. social justice, gender/religion/economic
Member projects benefit from access to the cluster’s broader network, which allows them to multiply their impact. Members contribute with evidence, knowledge, and expertise through their research, developed technologies, and society engagement methodologies to form future pathways for game creation.
Initiated by MEMENTOES, currently consists of five projects and aspires to be expanded continuously with additional members.
