EPIC-WE is a three-year EU-funded research and innovation initiative aimed at empowering young people to participate in shaping European culture and their own future by imagining, creating, and exchanging cultural values and heritage through game-making.
The project will hold several rounds of cultural game jams in Aarhus (DK), Óbidos (PT), and Hilversum (NL) where young people from diverse backgrounds will collaborate with research institutions, creative industries, and cultural institutions to create games that convey social and cultural values.
With a “game as culture, through culture, and for culture” approach, EPIC-WE aims to highlight video games as cultural entities and engage new actors in shaping European Value, while also establishing a framework for the cooperation between institutions and young people to design culture- and value-sensitive games, which can then be replicated on a bigger scale.
