The Gaslight District is a place where people come together. When cities are planned properly, with urban density and vibrant public spaces, they become the ideal environment where social barriers can be broken down. These type of places are where bonds and collective identity can be created at a grass roots level. This is extremely relevant today as the digital world, that sometimes seems to be overtaking reality, fails to bring us together. It is dividing us as it organizes society into silos of similarity. We learn less about people who are different…and we seem to slowly grow suspicious of the world around us.
