Gavia BIO is dedicated to bringing a new antimicrobial peptide (AMP) to market to combat resistant bacterial pathogens at the site of infection. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the top 10 current and emerging threats for global health. AMR related infections contribute to 1.3 million deaths annually and if not addressed, could lead to 10 million deaths worldwide per year by 2050. To counteract this growing threat, health care teams need new medical tools, protocols and systems including new antibiotics that effectively kill pathogens resistant to the current therapies.
