Sebang Global Battery was originally born at the Naval Technology Research Institute founded in 1952. Sebang was established under the name of Jinhae Battery in February 1966 to produce automotive and industrial batteries, and was renamed as Sebang Global Battery Co., Ltd. in 1978. It was listed on the Korea Stock Exchange Composite (KOSPI) market in 1987. It recorded sales of 1,252.7 billion and had 1,054 employees in 2020. Its home office is located at 433 Seonneung-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Its Gwangju Factory specializes in the production of automotive storage battery, while its Changwon Factory produces AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) automotive batteries and industrial storage batteries. It was awarded the 100 Million Dollar Export Tower Prize on the 1997 International Trade Day and the 600 Million Dollar Export Tower on the 2014 International Trade Day. It is equipped with sufficient capacity to produce 19 million automotive batteries and 3.7 million industrial batteries per year. Sebang Global Battery is currently composed of the Management & Control Division, the Production Division, which includes the Gwangju and Changwon Factories, as well as a CEO who is in charge of the Quality Management Office, which supervises the control and production units, and a CEO in charge of the sales unit, which supervises the Domestic and Overseas Sales Division, both of whom represent the company independently.
