Coalition for a Global Citizen's Assembly

We are a coalition of organizations and governments coming together to place citizens at the heart of global governance. We are doing this by establishing a permanent Global Citizens’ Assembly, to address humanity’s greatest challenges. Our global governance systems were built for an earlier age. They are no longer fit to address the compounding crises the planet is facing. A Global Citizens’ Assembly will create a political mandate for change, by enabling large numbers of people to come together, share their views and design solutions. It will become a new and lasting piece of global governance to address the lack of trust in and legitimacy of the multilateral system. This is why are building the Coalition for a Global Citizens’ Assembly to support the idea, institution, and impact of a permanent Global Citizens’ Assembly. Our coalition will be formally launched at the UN Summit of the Future in September 2024.
