Department of Production Engineering - GCT

The Department of Production engineering, since its dawn in GCT in the academic year 1978-1979, renders quality technical education to its students and cultivated proficient individuals and startup leaders .The course is designed with an aim of combining Manufacturing technology with the Management sciences thereby emphasizing the fact that the two streams go hand in hand in effective functioning of the industry. The department stands as a Powerhouse of talents and quintessentially imparting the best technical knowledge in the state as well as in the country. The pivotal objective of the department is to inculcate the cutting edge technologies to the young minds to meet the day to day upgrading industrial requirements. The course curriculum is meticulously framed encompassing the foundations and the latest innovative technologies as well in the discipline of Industrial and manufacturing Engineering .Well- equipped laboratories in the areas of manufacturing, thermal, metrology, metallurgy, design and modeling, mechatronics and stimulation. Numerous research papers have been published in reputed national and international journals by our leveraging distinguished Faculties. Students are encouraged to pursue e-learning that hone their individual skills and grades will be allotted on successful completion of the course in recognized e-learning platforms. The department has set a pedestal in the college promoting all round development of students through a myriad of technical activities, symposiums, workshops and exhibitions. Equivalence of degree: The Government order G.O.Ms.No.183, P&AR(R) Department, dated at 6.6.1995 states that the B.E. Production Engineering and B.E Mechanical Engineering are equivalent degrees, when considered for employment purposes. This ensures that the Production engineers are skilled enough to be working in industries where mechanical engineers are employed.
