Gear Up

Technological development, currently taking place in all fields of mobility, is projected toward increasing energy efficiency combined with reducing the environmental impact of these systems. The increasing use of electric mobility suggests new challenges related to power transmission from the electrical machine to the wheels or marine/aviation propeller. Gear Up fits into this field by claiming to be able to design and develop a new model of gearbox based no more on modular design but applying a general theory that has been the subject of many years of synergy and study at the National STEMS Research Council in Naples and the University of Naples Federico II. This new theory allows Gear Up to realize high-ratio gears going as far as ratios of 32:1 in a single pair spur gears. Can be translated into a significant advantage in terms of footprint, weight, and cost reduction with respect to longer transmission chains. Gear Up's core team consists of people working in a synergistic environment involving academic and industrial settings. The team's diverse experiences and careers have been characterized by deep collaboration with high-profile companies and research centers.
