Gecko is an award winning, internationally acclaimed physical theatre company, founded in 2001 and led by Artistic Director Amit Lahav. Based in Ipswich the company creates innovative and inspirational contemporary theatre to inspire, move, challenge and entertain audiences and participants. Gecko tours nationally and internationally, developing strong partnerships around the world. Beyond the stage, Gecko aspires to open the doors on their process via every avenue, be it digital, in schools or through one-to-one relationships with their audience.

Touring productions include Taylor’s Dummies, The Race, The Arab & The Jew, The Overcoat, and Missing and Institute are touring worldwide. In 2015 Gecko was selected to be part of the BBC’s On Stage: Live From Television Centre, and created a new 30 minute piece entitled The Time of Your Life which was broadcast live on BBC4 in November 2015 and seen by over 76,000 people.
In 2016, Gecko co-produced a new show with Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre entitled The Dreamer. Inspired by A Midsummer Nights Dream by William Shakespeare and the Peony Pavilion by Tang Xianzu, The Dreamer was created as part of the British Council’s Shakespeare Lives programme and premiered in Shanghai in October 2016 followed by a run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2017.

The Wedding is Gecko’s seventh touring production. The first sharing of work in progress was performed in June 2016 at Pulse Festival, Ipswich with further development throughout Autumn 2016 and Spring 2017. The show previewed in March 2017 at Northern Stage in Newcastle before starting its touring life with a significant outreach programme as part of a Strategic Touring award from Arts Council England.
